 Cox's Bazar will be an international tourist city - Railway Minister

Railway Minister Mohammad Nurul Islam Sujan said the Prime Minister has plans to make Cox's Bazar an international tourist destination. Work is moving forward accordingly.

He said this while distributing compensation checks worth around Tk 1 crore among four landowners who acquired the railway project at Jhilangja Haji Para in Cox's Bazar on Saturday.

The Railway Minister said the construction of 102 km railway line up to Dohazari-Cox's Bazar-Ghumdhum is one of the 10 mega projects prioritized by the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister is implementing many mega projects for the development of Cox's Bazar, not just the railways.

Later, Nurul Islam Sujan inspected the progress of the Dohazari-Cox's Bazar dual gauge railway project at various places including Jhilangja Haji Para and Ramu Fatehkharkul at the Cox's Bazar end.

At that time, he said, if the railway service from Dhaka to Cox's Bazar is started, revolutionary changes will take place in the tourism industry and economic sector of the country.
